Ebook Sales: Is it the story or the package?

My question today is: Does ebooks have the same impact on people as prints?

What's your view on it?

First of all, I'm a print junkie. Something about the feel of a book, the smell of ink and paper, the memories when I handle a book shoots me right back to my youth. Reading books was the connection I had with my mom, my friends -- heck we learned about sex and romance through romance books! We would read horror books by Stephen King, hiding them from our parents and reading them in the middle of the night with a flashlight and a blanket thrown over to further hide our adventure. I soon was reading the Howling, Dune, Bethany's Sin, the Dragon Riders of Pern series, Rose in Winter, Shanna, and the Wolf and the Dove. All these venues taught me so much about life, evil, redemption, and hope. It gave me the courage to be adventrous, to go out and seek out Life.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled people are reading more, just wondering if books today are having the same impact as it had for me. Is it the story or the packaging? I am curious to know what readers and authors think about this.

Sorry to be gone so long, but this week has become Hell week. Between getting ready to move, donated plasma, and wound up having a small seizure. When I came to my daughter had called 911, yes, we were in the car and thank God I had sense enough to pull over and just parked when the darn thing hit me and I blacked out. Upside of the moment was the absolutely gorgeous paramedics who came to my rescue -- five to be exact. Made my whole day. They were so sweet and one drove me in my car to the hospital so I wouldn't have to pay for an ambulance call.

Moral of the story?

Heat stroke sucks! Paramedics rock!
